Case Study/Description:
When a website is no longer compatible with the technological needs of your demographic, it means its thirsty for a redesign…or in the case of the Lake County Historical Society’s sister site for the historic Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast: starving for a completely revised web presence. The website showcases this historic marker in Two Harbors, Minnesota and because the site suffered from lack of ease-of-use and a difficult updating system it meant guests weren’t finding it, and more crucially, a monumental landmark was in danger of being neglected.
From a design perspective, the Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast website needed an overhaul in order to manage the negative space and make the visitor experience more compatible with modern technology.
The most profound update Creative Arc brought to this redesign project, however, was a tool they created that radically changed the management of the site as well as the experience of present and future guests of the Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast. The content management system developed by Creative Arc allows the bed and breakfast staff to update rates, information and the calendar in a faster, more efficient, and just plain easier way.
When the Lake County Historical Society recognized the need for guests to find rates and book reservations online and that the old site was not providing for that need, they happily welcomed Paul Larson and his team to get creative and transform the site from unusable to fully capable.
